LOST ANGELES

I spent a few months driving around LA getting myself lost. I hate making too many plans and always like to take adventure rides or walks that lead me to nowhere. LA ALWAYS SEEMS TO NEED A PLAN, WHETHER YOU'RE DRIVING TO MEET SOMEONE OR AVOID TRAFFIC. I TRIED TO ESCAPE THOSE PLANS BY MAKING NONE AND SEEING WHERE IT LED ME. There was nothing specific I was chasing, but the lines and pastels and minimal repetition just showed themselves again and again.

THE VAST LAND OF STRIP MALLS AND SUCCULENT PLANTS DOES OFFER A GREAT DEAL OF SIMPLE BEAUTY THAT IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER. THIS WAS MY LOST ESCAPE TO SEARCH FOR SOMETHING THAT PLEASED ME IN A CITY THAT DIDN'T NECESSARILY OVERWHELM ME WITH BEAUTY AND VISUAL FIXATION AT FIRST GLANCE. THAT'S THE THING ABOUT LA AND ITS MAGIC, IT DOESN'T GIVE IT UP SO EASY OR HIT YOU OVER THE HEAD WITH IT. IT'S MORE IN THE BASIC INNER-WORKINGS WHERE THE SPECIAL TO ME PARTS WERE DISCOVERED.
